Once armed, any movement of a Scout fitted Bike will trigger the motion-sensitive audio alarm discouraging any further movement and alerting the bike’s owner, both by the sound of the alarm and via a notification that is automatically sent to the owner’s iPhone (when in Bluetooth range).

Then in a scenario where a bike fitted with Scout is not where the owner has left it, it can be located using Apple’s network via the ‘Find My’ app.

Works Well — Alarm and Tracking

After carefully going through the installation, it works quite well. Seems to do all that was promised. Alarm goes off when armed when I shake the bike and the tracker shows where the bike is located when I bring it up on my FIND MY. Fits perfectly on the fork mount on my Specialized Creo 2. Along with a lock, I believe my bike is not an easy target for a thief.

Very confusing setting up

For some reason I tried to pair our second knog and for some reason it would not connect. Not sure if it’s firmware and not connected to our iPhone Bluetooth

This alarm and tracker is an excellent product. The app could do with a redesign in some aspects, however. My alarm is under the water bottle cage, which is great.

Update: Knog did a firmware update today. It left my alarm activated but the app unresponsive, so I couldn’t turn the scout off. Their suggested fix didn’t work. The second fix, of charging the device, is not helpful if you’re out and not carrying a charger! Knog says its firmware updates are to make the device reliable. The evidence suggests otherwise. I dropped my rating g from 5 to 2 because of this. Flaky IT updates suck.

Arming Scout Is Quick & Easy

Arming or disarming the Scout alarm can be achieved in two ways; via the button on the side of the device when the connected iPhone is in close proximity (< 1.5 m) or via the Knog app when the device is within Bluetooth range.

Mounting & Securing

For overt protection use the neon yellow silicone cover provided. For more discreet security, attach Scout to the bike via the bottle cage mounts using the supplied tamper-proof security screws without the cover.

Dual Function LEDs

Scout feature’s dual function LEDs that show at a glance if the Scout is alarmed. The same LEDs display the charge status of the battery.

Mounting With A Bottle Cage

Scout’s extremely low profile and compact design allows for it to be neatly bolted and hidden underneath a bottle cage. This is a great way to keep Scout hidden.
