Hi,
Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback on some of your products I recently purchased.
The Oi Luxe Bike Bell
I bought my first Oi bell in 2017, not long after they became available. All I could say about this product was that I was too embarrassed by the inherent faults (namely the spring mechanism in the striker) to give the two extra units I purchased to my friends as gifts. They are still sitting in their packaging in a draw up in my study.
I wrote to you in 2022 describing my experience with this bell (without reply) and again earlier this year, to which you replied and sent me a complimentary Oi Prima. This is an improved design but not quite optimum.
Now I have purchased an Oi Luxe and I can finally say that this model appears to meet all the criteria I expect in a bell.
I am hoping the striker mechanism is long lasting. Like some of the 30+ yo bells on my other bikes.
The Blinder Rear Bike Light
I am always looking for a decent rear light and after many months perusing your products I chose this rear light.
I couldn’t hide my disappointment when I first installed it and it has left me wondering about the amount of real world testing you do.
I shouldn’t have to point out that almost without exception the seat post, to which these lights are attached, is on an angle (commonly 73°) and when the Blinder Rear light is in place it points toward the ground and NOT in a horizontal direction.
You may consider this a moot point as there are many LEDS in this light, but compensating this directional mis-alignment by increasing the brightness is not a worthy solution.
How hard would it be to design the housing so that it accommodated this 73° slant of the seat tube and post?
And while you’re redesigning the housing how about moving the switch to what will now always be the bottom. This is a much better location, ergonomically, than scratching around on one side or the other.
My Moon rear lights have had issue this covered for many years.
Feel free to contact me for clarification of my points or to discuss these issues further.
I have an account on your website shop with my contact details.
Regards,
Robin Belford
I bought the 22.1 size, thought it could cover a mm or so. No, it does not. It was my fault, so I went for a size bigger. The sound of the bell is perfect. I was looking for it for a while
The shims to fit other handlebars are really hard to use and slip and fall off easily.
The bell is load with a wonderful sound. Easy to install.
The Bell ist OK - not less and not more
